The Japanese government, through its International Cooperation Agency, JICA, develops projects aiming to promote economic growth and socio-economic stability in developing countries. Among these projects, there is the Third Country Training Programme – TCTP, which focus to offer training courses to citizens of the developing countries covered by TCTP.
TCTP also offers trainings related to tropical forests monitoring, which is coordinated by JICA, and is executed in Brazil in partnership with INPE, the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources – IBAMA and also has the coordination of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency – ABC.
The training courses of TCTP have duration on three weeks, and during the first two weeks, is realized at the Amazon Regional Center of INPE in Belém, Brazil. In the last week, the course takes place in Brasília, at IBAMA.
At the beginning of the course, participants are invited to present the scenery of deforestation in their countries. And then, they meet the facilities of the institutions and also are presented to INPE’s projects. By the end of the course, they are capable to implement and operate the TerraAmazon system in their countries using all the information learned.
